Think we need to either open this one up further or start a link to some kind of section dealing with concurrent diseases/conditions which can be huge contributors to either not regulating or becoming unregulated.

In dogs, it's mainly Cushing's Disease (hyperadrenocorticism) or hypothyroid. Some dogs have either Cushing's or diabetes first--and then the other results. Quite a few dogs who were on the canine board began with diabetes, then it became diabetes AND Cushing's. Have also had dogs at board with hypothyroid and regulation problems. In many of these concurrent diseases cases, getting one managed is key to getting control of the other. Re: dogs with diabetes and Cushing's, the diabetes needs to be controlled before you can tackle the Cushing's. Diabetes and hypothyroid means correcting the thyroid problem first, as it likely means swinging back into regulation when this is done.

I see it's just the opposite with cats re: thyroid--it's hyperthyroid.

Suggestions, please?
