I live in Germany, and although I'm not a member of the FDMB (I participate in the German equivalents) I just wanted to let you know about my cat Tilly that went into remission with Lantus.
I have also set up a Homepage with Tilly's story. Most of it is in German, but the charts are in English and should be readable by everyone: http://de.share.geocities.com/k_roomp/blutzuckerwerte.htm
>1.) When was your cat diagnosed with FD? March 2004
>2.) When did you start using Lantus and how long till regulation? March 2005, remission within 1.5 weeks. Initially I used Caninsulin which didn't work for Tilly at all because of its very short duration. Then I used ultralente Ultratard which worked better and I was in the process of decreasing the dose. Lantus finally seems to have given Tilly the duration she needed to push her into remission.
>3.) Are you feeding your cat a low-carbohydrate diet? Yes
>4.) Has your cat gone off of insulin? Yes
>5.) Are you considering changing to or from Lantus? I wish I had found out about Lantus sooner.
