Cindy has had diabetes for about 11 months. At first, she was started on a combination of dry w/d and canned w/d food. After about two months, she refused to eat the dry w/d. She continued with the canned w/d until this June, when she again refused to eat it. Since then, we are home-cooking, and we have found it so much easier. Cindy has been doing well on this diet.
Her eyesight was lost years before being diagnosed with diabetes. Keeping her environment the same has helped her tremendously, and she even still can hold her own when her younger pug sister likes to pick on her.
We have had only one incident with hypoglycemia. Her insulin amount has changed very little since being diagnosed. She receives 5 units of NPH in the am and 6 units of NPH in the evening.
